Fotherington-Thomas the Rock Star!
1950s schoolboy Basil Fotherington-Thomas from the Molesworth books grew up to become a rock star by 1969, according to Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century 1969 comic book. At the start of the comic book “Baz Thomas” is being fellated by a male friend, and on climaxing he emits the classic Fotherington-Thomas phrase “Hello sky! Hello trees!”
The medallion he’s wearing turns out to be the Mrs Joyful Prize for Raffia Work, an award which was always won (due to parental bribery, according to Nigel Molesworth) by another character in the Molesworth books, the head boy Grabber. Grabber appears to be the manager of Fotherington-Thomas’s band in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen book, so one can only wonder as to the circumstances of Grabber handing this coveted award over to his gay protégé.
